Omaha Baseball Tabbed as Summit League Favorites

With the 2014 college baseball season quickly approaching, the Summit League has released its preseason poll, and Omaha is picked to repeat as regular season champions.

The poll is voted on by all of the league’s head coaches. The Mavericks received three of the five first-place votes for 15 points total.

The Mavericks return a nucleus of talent led by two first-team all-league players in Tyler Splichal and Alex Mortensen. Second-team all-league selections Brett Bass and Clayton Taylor also return for Bob Herold and the Mavericks. On the mound, Omaha returns Tyler Fox and Zach Williamsen as their top two pitchers for the upcoming season.

The Mavericks open up 2014 play on February 14, when they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on Purdue and the host Tennessee.  MavRadio is your exclusive home for Omaha Baseball this spring.  Paul Dobler and Ryan Matheny will be there for every home game and select away games this season.
