Musical Guests Entertain UNO’s Community for College Radio Day 2018: A Review

There’s a surplus of great musical talent. Just walk by any pub or bistro in the Old Market, Benson or West Omaha and you’ll see. So, it wasn’t an easy decision when our staff lined up the artists to celebrate our first soiree into the national College Radio Day 2018 campaign.

The evening’s opener, Grace Titus, is an inspiration. The 14-year-old Central high school student has the vocals, instrumental talent and poise remarkably similar to the country-turned-pop sensation Taylor Swift. Her covers of Blondie, Concrete Blonde and Janis Joplin segued with ease to her own unique writing style.

The switch from solo to band was a transition easily managed by the artists and the audience. The four men of State Disco balanced their vocals and instrumental chemistry to create music so fluid there’s no choice but to feel it. The evening closed out with UNO’s own international artist. DJ GriG is a force and his mix isn’t just an escape from reality, he’s a tsunami of energy.  We put these three musical groups in a line-up and MavRadio.FM made its imprint on Omaha entertainment.
