UNO Theater Finishes on a Haunting Note

Unlike any production in recent UNO history, “Kwaidan” gives audiences the chance to engage in theater. You are treated as a guest which is attended to by tour guides through ghostly realms, where the characters do not hesitate to invite you into the story.

Beginning tonight, UNO’s Theater Department is closing out its 2015-2016 season with “Kwaidan”, a play which immerses audiences in Japanese folklore. Izumi Ashizawa’s “Kwaidan” originally opened in a Roman style church in Washington, D.C. and was adapted to the stairwells, corridors, and theater of the Weber Fine Arts building.

Check out my interview with the play’s director, Izumi Ashizawa, and the lead actress, Tuyet Pham, who starred in the original production.

The shows run time is April 12 – 16, 20 – 23, 2016 at 7 P.M. & 9 P.M. Find your tickets here or in person at the box office in Weber Fine Arts.
